-- FROM FOUNDERS PRESS -- "Broadus was an academic,
spiritual, and homiletical giant in his day. I am delighted to think that this reprint may
lead to a much-deserved rediscovery of his life and work". In a day when some have no regard for
the theology of Carroll and Broadus, there are multitudes who highly respect these great
past leaders of Southern Baptists and will rejoice in the reappearance of these great
volumes of Baptist literature. "Brethren,
we must preach the doctrines; we must emphasize the doctrines; we must go back to the
doctrines. I fear that the new generation does not know the doctrines as our fathers knew
them." |
For integration of good judgment,
consistency, biblical fidelity, evangelical warmth, and trustworthy scholarship; John A.
Broadus is equal to any and superior to most. His writings show a love for his friends and
colleagues, a deep experimental knowledge of truth, a massive grasp of technical and
critical issues, his belief in the centrality of preaching for the church, and his undying
love for the Lord Jesus. Every evangelical preacher should welcome the republication of
these works and will live in lamentation if they miss the opportunity to own and use them. Selected Works of John A. Broadus
